Paris is best explored on foot, one neighbourhood at a time. This plan keeps travel between sights short so you spend more time enjoying the city.
Day 1: The islands and the Louvre
Begin on Île de la Cité with Notre-Dame and Sainte-Chapelle, then cross to the Louvre. Booking a timed entry in advance saves a long wait. End the day with a walk along the Seine to the Tuileries.
Day 2: Montmartre and the Marais
Climb to Sacré-Cœur in the morning for the view, explore the lanes of Montmartre, then head to the Marais in the afternoon for boutiques, falafel and Place des Vosges.
Day 3: The Eiffel Tower and Left Bank
Book Eiffel Tower tickets online well ahead, especially for the summit. Afterwards, walk to the Musée d’Orsay or the Luxembourg Gardens and finish in Saint-Germain.
